Brand Spotlight: Maiami

Brand Spotlight: Maiami

Meet the artisans behind your favorite knitwear.

There’s always been something special about the moment someone tries on a Maiami sweater inside Haven. The softness, the texture, the craftsmanship — it’s as if you can feel the hands behind it.

Maiami’s knitwear is an ode to thoughtful creation. Every sweater is hand-made by a single craftsperson — no mass production, no factories, just skill, patience, and artistry. Many of the artisans live in rural areas across Bosnia and Herzegovina, where women’s access to work is often shaped by tradition and limited opportunities. Their partnership with Udruženje, a women-led nonprofit, provides steady income, skills training, and the ability to support their children’s education.

One of the artisans, Merima, learned to knit as a child alongside her grandmother. Her words always stay with us:

“Knitting teaches patience. It takes a particular place within a day. Whatever it was the day offered, knitting grounds it perfectly. We fight with all our power to survive. No matter the obstacles, we always see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

This is the soul behind your sweater — and why these pieces feel as meaningful as they are beautiful. When you choose a Maiami knit, you’re carrying craftsmanship, connection, and a lineage of women’s work into your everyday life.
